Cryptocurrency has long crossed the threshold of being unknown and unexplored and has truly become an integral part of the world's financial system. But is it really that easy to use cryptocurrency for everyday needs today?
Despite daily news about new products, crypto cards, and the expansion of crypto horizons for many fintech and even banks, one can still encounter difficulties in paying for basic services using cryptocurrency. This is especially relevant for those who do not store their coins on major exchanges but prefer more secure wallets, such as hardware wallets. Using an exchange, such as Binance, in this regard is convenient, as it allows for seamless exchange of cryptocurrency into fiat money and use of crypto cards. However, on the other hand, partnering with such a company imposes a set of obligations to comply with its rules, undergo KYC and AML checks. Sometimes these checks are very strict and even go beyond legal requirements, as many exchanges strive to go further and ensure their protection from unpleasant situations with clients. In such cases, interacting with them can be more complicated.
And it is precisely here that direct crypto processing is the most preferred option for most. What is it? It is the ability to pay for a purchase with cryptocurrency, without exchanging it for fiat money like US dollars or euros. Thus, the transfer can be made from any wallet, and price of the product will be expressed in desired cryptocurrency. Such mechanics are actively used by online products, for example, gaming or iGaming websites. However, "ordinary" businesses are not in a hurry to connect crypto processing. Why this is the case is not hard to guess. Many countries, although they say they are fully "OK" with cryptocurrency, still heavily restrict crypto operations, exchange is expensive, and businesses simply do not want to lose money on fees and have difficulties with accounting and tax obligations for such assets. Therefore, they do not add cryptocurrency to their payment pages.
However, the airline ticket aggregator company Alternative Airlines recently made a different announcement — now you can buy tickets with cryptocurrency on their website. The company has connected crypto processing from payment provider Triple-A and is ready to offer crypto payments to its customers. This news is significant because it illustrates positive shifts in turning cryptocurrency into a real payment instrument with its own value. Payments are accepted in BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC, LTC, and even Binance Pay. By the way, tickets are sold for a very wide variety of destinations, so this will certainly be beneficial and more convenient for many than standard aggregators offering payment only by credit card.
